TIE Bomber Mount
It was pretty obvious from the start that the best place to grab the TIE Bomber was in between the double pods. I roughed out a blank and drew the radius on each side. Next was to cut out the blank on the bandsaw and sand the curves on the oscillating spindal sander. I needed to add a spacer "tongue" to support the luan deck. A 8"x2.25" back is added. I just happened to find a piece of luan 8" wide. After laying out the deck I cut it to length on the sliding compound miter saw. Then rough cut it out on the bandsaw and shape sand it using the oscillating spindal sander for inside radiuses and the bechtop belt sander for straight edges and outside radiuses. When screwing multiple pieces together make sure your screws "don't" line up. A mistake i've made too many times. This is the basic idea I had in mind. Two pieces of foamie would hold it tight between the pods. It wasn't long before I wasn't comfortable with the "foamie" idea since the ship is very front heavy and I thought over time it would lean forward. So I eliminated the foamies for a lower tongue to support the the front of the Bomber. A two-tone paint job and there ready to go.
