Playset

This is my first endeavor into MDF (medium density fiberboard). There are many pros and cons on using MDF over solid wood which I will get into later.

Since it is a heavy material especially in a 4'x8' sheet I need to dissect it by hand using a Circular Saw.

Before cutting out a blank for the base I drew out a pattern making sure there was plenty of room for the interior componants.

After cutting the jagged edge of the base on the Bandsaw, the Stationary Beltsander is used to smooth up the chatter marks left by the blade.

Steps are then Routed into the front corners of the base on the Router Table.

A back and side walls are dimensioned from Luan.

Since there will be no top board to hide to top of the wiring harness, a thick jagged edge molding will be used to strengthen and hide the top of the wiring harness.

The top molding is bradnailed from behind to the back and side boards and sanded, primed and painted along with the base and wiring harness carcass. Then the wires are strung to the harness and it is repainted before final assembly.
