 The Making of

After finish squaring up a 2x4 a 15 degree angel is cut on what will be the top side of the control stations.

Then the layout marking for the front are made.

The first cut is also at 15 degrees the second is at 90.

Next is to sand and cut the individual stations out on the Miter Saw. The sides are cut at 6 degrees.

The stations are then layed out as to figure the diameter of the platform they will be mounted on.

Before making the platform I went ahead and rouned off the ends at the proper angle.

The platform is cut out on the Bandsaw using a home made circle jig.

The position of the stations are then layed out and they are glued to the platform. They are glued only at this point to hold them steady when holes are predrilled for the addition of Screws that will be added later.

Next the step up riser is layed out.

It is also cut out on the Bandsaw using the circle jig but notches are cut first at the sides of the steps. Then it is rough sanded at the stationary belt sander.

To lay out the step a center mark is made with the platform on the riser.

The step is cut into the riser on the Router Table.

The cuts are made in increments as to lessen the chance of tear out. Measurements are made frequently to make sure the two step rises come out equal.

Last the Platform will be Glued and Brad nailed to the Riser and the Control panels are Screwed in place.

Wood filler is added to the nail holes and to mold in the top step riser.

Decals are made printed out and Glued on with spray adhesive.

Anodized Bronze version.
