Part 2

The Screens are started by routing a 1/8" dado in a 1/4" Dowel rod.

The Screens are cut out of 3/16" Plexiglass by making several passes with a Plexiglass Knife and then carefuly breaking along the scored edge.

The inside of the Dado needs to be painted or the bare wood will show once it's glued to the Plexiglass.

After the paint dries. Glue is applied in the dado and the assembly is carefully clamped not to split the Dowel.

Wood putty is applied to the ends of the dowel then sanded after drying.

The Screen is masked off and the Dowel and the Base are primered and painted.

The graphics are made on the computer and printed out on Photopaper for the base and on Transparencies for the Screen.

Markers are used to color the edges of the photopaper

Spray Adhesive is used to apply the photopaper printouts to the base.

Here's where things got a bit tricky. The biggest problem I had on this project were the graphics on the Screens.

Drawing them on was a matter of lack of a marker that would cover uniformly or wouldn't smear.

Printouts posed some same and different problems. Finding something clear that would print without smearing and also stick clear on plexiglass.

What I came up with is overhead projector Transparencies. The trick was to get them to stick to plexiglass without the glue showing.

My solution was to cut out a piece of photopaper slightly smaller than the screen printout. This way once I sprayed it with spray adhesive only the edges on the top and sides under the blue boarder and the bottom below the top of the base so the glue would be concealed.

A couple of pieces of paper are used to protect the top of the base so two drops of hot glue can be dropped into the slot. Then pressure is applied while holding the screen straight and even till the glue dries and this project is completed...ENJOY !!!
